At some point you’ll need to write a press release for your food truck. Press releases are a communication tool journalists and editors use to find stories to cover. Newsworthy reasons you might want to submit a press release to the local media in your area include grand openings, special events, charity work, or awards. But you’ll need to make sure the press release includes the right information and is formatted correctly.

Components of a Food Truck Press Release
Here are the five basic sections of a press release.
1. Title:
Engaging and Informative: Choose a title that grabs attention and clearly conveys the main topic. Example: “Introducing Our New Summer Menu at Street Eats Food Truck!”
2. Introduction:
Hook and Summary: Start with a brief introduction that hooks the reader and summarizes the main point of the post. Example: “We’re thrilled to announce our new summer menu, packed with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients and exciting flavors perfect for the sunny season.”
3. Body:
Main Content: Provide the key information in a few short paragraphs. Focus on the essentials and keep it engaging. Use bullet points or subheadings for clarity if needed.

- Unique Selling Points: Highlight what makes it special. Example: “All dishes are made with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients to ensure the highest quality and support local farmers.”
- Quotes (optional): Include a quote from the owner or chef to add a personal touch. Example: “We’ve crafted this menu to celebrate the vibrant flavors of summer,” says John Doe, owner of Street Eats Food Truck.
4. Call to Action with Contact Information:
Encouragement to Engage: End with a call to action encouraging the media to give you a call or send an email. Of course, you can also include your social media handles. Example: “Give Ryan Murphy, the CEO of Burger Truck Boise to learn more about this event. Come taste our new summer menu at various locations around Boise, and don’t forget to follow us on Instagram @StreetEatsBoise for photos and video of our food.”
The final tip is to make sure your press releases are short. People working in media don’t have a lot of time to make decisions on the topics they’ll cover. Get straight to the point and explain the most interesting parts of the story right away.
