The long running television show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives started out by traveling across the United States featuring hole in the wall restaurants serving up, usually funky and always delicious foods. Since the start of the show back in 2006, the bleached-blonde Food Network Star, Guy Fiere, has been the host through 24 seasons of the franchise with no signs of stopping any time soon.
As time has passed, not just restaurants, but food trucks have started to be featured in many episodes. This is a testament to food trucks truly becoming more mainstream and viewed as a destination for getting hard-to-find or creative meals. In this post, we will feature some of our favorite food trucks featured on these episodes and let you know the city to find them in too. Let’s roll!
Guerrilla Street Food
It can be hard to find legit Filipino cuisine when you live in the Midwest. Fortunately, Guerrilla Street Food, a food truck operating in St. Louis, Missouri is introducing these homage authentic foods to the locals. Green Papaya Food Truck
Not only is this program a great way to find new places to eat, but being featured on the show can be incredible for driving awareness of the community for great food served locally. This was certainly the case with the Green Papaya Food Truck based out of Stockton, Calif. Watch the video below to see how being featured on the program gave business a big boost!
The Sandwich League Food Truck is based out of a hot bed of great mobile food: Eugene, Oregon. The Tin Kitchen is located in Charlotte, NC, and serves up gourmet food in the Queen City. On the menu you’ll regularly find Chipotle Chicken Quesadillas, Pork Belly Tacos and Togarashi Shrimp Tacos that look amazing. You’ll often this the Tin Kitchen parked at local breweries around the Charlotte area. This is a must stop joint if you’re in the area!
Destination Eating
Eating at restaurants and food trucks featured in the series has become a hobby for many fans of this show and also a way to find great places to eat at.
